About Me

Hello there! My name is Steve! I was born in Wilmington, North Carolina, where I spent my childhood days riding bikes with my friends and swimming in the black waters of Whiskey Creek and the nearby intercoastal waterway. The setting of my book, "The Whiskey Creek Murders," was inspired by the woods and surrounding area of Whiskey Creek and Masonboro Loop Road, where I grew up.

From a young age, I developed a passion for history, particularly U.S. history, which I excelled in during my school days. I would often be found in the library, reading in my free time. As I progressed to high school, my interest shifted toward the American Civil War and the turbulent years of the mid-1900s, with a focus on World War II.

Later in life, I had the privilege of working with a wonderful lady named Kathy, whom I fondly referred to as Mrs. K. One day, she confided in me that she had written a book about growing up in the South in the 1950s. That conversation sparked the idea of writing my own book. Despite my lack of experience, I was confident that my extensive reading on World War II and my collection of reference books would be sufficient. After a year of hard work and numerous trials and errors, I published my first book, "The Disappearance of U-491." I enjoyed the process so much that I haven't stopped writing since. To date, I have written twelve books across various genres and lengths, with more in the works.

If you have read even one of my books, you should know that my writing style is not like most authors. I write very much like I speak and like most people speak, in plain language. Is my writing perfect? In a word NO and it never will be. I simply enjoy writing stories. Could things be worded better? Of course! Is every comma in the correct place, or is my wording grammatically correct? PROBABLY NOT! Would an English major or a book editor have a stroke if they read one of my books? OH, YES! All of my books are edited multiple times using various methods, including MS Word Editor, Grammarly, read-aloud software, and beta readers; however, there will be mistakes. My sole aim is not to attain fame or fortune but to have fun, alleviate a little stress, and tell stories. If you're looking for a technically perfect book, please don't buy my books, but if you want to kill a little time with easy reads and like to follow a good storyline, by all means, check them out!  I hope you find something you enjoy in my books.

I’m not working on the Great American Novel. All I’m doing, I hope, is entertaining readers.
